Second Hand Records from 2015

So last month I championed second hand records, over the last year I have collected a few myself so though I would do a quick run down of some of the bargains:

Queen – Greatest Hits

Price:  £5

From:  Tynemouth Metro Station Market.

Comments: Great collection of Queens early hits, essential for any collection.

Queen – A Night At The Opera

Price: £5

From: Tynemouth Metro Station Market

Comments:  Queens first real complicated album and their first real hit.  This is the start of Queen as everyone knows them.

Paul McCartney – All The Best

Price:  £5

From:  Tynemouth Metro Station Market

Comments:  The cover maybe a bad 80s design but this double record holds most of Paul’s great solo catalogue, which while never reaching The Beatles greatness stand very well on their own.

Queen – Greatest Hits II

Price:  £15

From:  Beat Down Records

Comments:  I had one so I had to get part two to complete the set.  This compilation is in a great shiny cover with embossed name and logo on the front, the songs aren’t to bad either!!!

Wings – Band on the Run

Price:  £5

From:  Beat Down Records

Comments:  Wings best album and includes one of my fav songs Bluebird, its a great cover too.

Micheal Jackson – Thriller

Price:  £5

From:  Beat Down Records

Comments:  The biggest selling record of all time and for good reason every track is worthy of been a single and covers many music genres, a genius at the high of his skill.

The Eagles – Desperado

Price:  £5

From:  Beat Down Records

Comments:  Eagles second album and though not that successful at the time has some great tracks, brilliant record for a lazy Sunday afternoon chill out.

The Beatles – 1967-1970

Price:  £8

From:  Beat Down Records

Comments:  Double album compilation from the second half of The Beatles career, this is when the studio work from the group is shown off at its best.  This and the 1962-1966 record are great albums to get started with if you haven’t listened to The Beatles before!!!

Led Zeppelin – III

Price:  £3 (this is a bad copy and the sound is wasted out hence the cheap price)

From:  Beat Down Records

Comments:  Of the first 4 Led Zeppelin albums this for me is the weakest, however it does contain the great “Immigrant Song” which is worth the price of the album alone.

R.E.M. – Document

Price:  £5

From:  Beat Down Records

Comments:  REMs last IRS album was also the beginning of the sound they would take into the mainstream moving forward with Warners.  Great album with stands and solid tracks all the way through.

Jeff Wayne’s – War of the Worlds

Price:  £8

From:  Tynemouth Metro Station Market

Comments:  An essential album for any collection, there is nothing like it.  It’s like a book, movie, soundtrack all in one.

Mike Oldfield – Tubular Bells

Price:  £3

From:  Beat Down Records

Comments:  One of the 70s remarkable concept album, nothing as brave as this is ever released anymore!

U2 – The Joshua Tree

Price:  £5

From:  Beat Down Records

Comments:  U2’s best album and the one that made them global superstars (for good and bad).  Its not hard to see why this has sold so many copies its packed with great songs.

Meat Loaf – Bat Out of Hell

Price:  £5

From:  Tynemouth Metro Station Market

Comments:  Classic rock opera, this has to be played at full volume without singing along if you can (it’s impossible!!!!).

The Beatles – 1962-1966

Price:  £7.50

From:  Discogs Seller

Comments:  The first part of the bands double album complilations houses are the great early pop songs.  Amazingly simple sing along songs that get better with age.

Micheal Jackson – Bad

Price:  £5

From:  Discogs Seller

Comments:  Where to go after the biggest selling album ever?  Well lets do it all again, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.  This is 80s pop gold.

The Gaslight Anthem – Handwritten

Price:  £30

From:  Discogs Seller

Comments:  had to get an imported version of this album as its hard to come by in the UK.  If you like simple American rock songs in the vein of Bruce Springsteen, there isn’t much better than this.
